Inside Suffa: how a sofa is born in Lordelo

Inside the factory: how a Suffa sofa is made

There's something special about realizing that the sofa we sit on every night has a history. That it has passed through experienced hands, that someone carefully chose each material, that decisions were thoughtfully made for every detail. This article is about opening the doors of our factory in Lordelo, Paredes, and showing you what happens before a Suffa sofa arrives at your home.

Over 30 years of know-how

Suffa was founded in 2010, but its story begins much earlier. Our founder spent over three decades working in the upholstery sector, learning, making mistakes, refining. It's this accumulated knowledge that today lives in every sofa that leaves our factory. It's not marketing. It's literally what happens when someone dedicates their life to a craft.

The structure: the foundation of everything

It all starts with a solid wood frame with quality certification. It might seem like a technical detail, but this is where it's decided whether a sofa will last five years or twenty. A well-constructed frame won't give way, creak, or fail, and that's precisely why we treat it as the foundation of a house.

The foams: where comfort meets science

We work with foams of 55 kg/m³ and 25kg/m³ densities, hand-picked to create a quality and durable sofa. Denser foam provides lumbar support; softer foam cradles the body. Finding the right balance between the two is not a formula; it's something learned over years and that changes from sofa to sofa.

Italian leathers and fabrics that stand the test of time

The leathers we use come from Italian tanneries with sustainability certification. The technical fabrics are tested for abrasion resistance, stains, and wear over time. Nothing goes into production without passing a rigorous validation process. Because a sofa isn't meant to last a season; it's meant to last a lifetime.

The human touch that makes all the difference

The final touches are handcrafted by artisans with years of experience: the detailed stitching, the finishing of the arms, the right tension in the cushions. It is this element, impossible to replicate in an industrial assembly line, that distinguishes a Suffa sofa from any other.

Buying a Suffa sofa means bringing home a piece made by people who master their craft. That's why it feels good, lasts a long time, and is worth every euro invested.
